Niykee has experienced a whirlwind few years including being chosen by Snoop to perform with him at The YouTube Brandcast May 2013 Niykee has a regular songwriting routine despite this. Her popularity is constant for producers who are just starting out. A lot of beats she hears from producers spark songs. Within five seconds, I know what a song is or not. I then get an idea for a song and begin writing it right away. My lyrics come to me while I'm sitting on my patio, playing my guitar. Usually it takes less than 30 minutes. Niykee says that as she matures as a singer-songwriter her painful memories from her childhood serve as an inspiratoin. "Even in the absence of writing about my own life in the open the grief of losing my sister as well as my difficult childhood are incorporated into my music," she says. This shapes my music and adds a greater significance, something I consider extremely important. I want to be able listen to my music 20 years from now and still feel proud about what I have to say.
