Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is a Canadian-American singer-songwriter. There are more than 20 albums. DiFranco's music is categorized as folk music and alternative rock although it also has influences from punk funk hip hop and jazz. Widely considered a feminist icon Grammy recipient Ani DiFranco has been referred to as the "mother" of the DIY movement and is among the pioneers of artists who started her own label 1990. DiFranco was born in Buffalo New York on September 23rd, 1970. She was the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross) and Dante Americo DiFranco The couple had met while attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
